Whispers of Blodeuwedd
In the twilight’s tender glow, where shadows softly blend,
A whisper through the willow trees, where the ancients bend.
Moonlight weaves a silver thread, through petals deep and fair,
Awakening the spirit’s breath, in the fragrant, dusky air.
Oh, Blodeuwedd, spirit bright,
With the owls you take your flight,
In the garden, where the wild blooms grow,
Transforming night to dawn’s soft flow.
Underneath the boughs so low, where the owls softly sigh,
Their haunting calls a sacred song, beneath the starry sky.
And every bloom that sways and bends, whispers names of old,
Of a goddess born of flowers, in legends yet untold.
Oh, Blodeuwedd, spirit bright,

With every rustle, hear her name, in the moonlit gaze.
In stillness of the forest deep, where magic softly stirs,

Of a goddess wrapped in beauty, forever in exchange.

When I first began working on Goddesses of the Isles, I knew from the start that this wasn’t just about illustration or research — it was about finding ways to reconnect with the rich, diverse threads of our ancestral stories and pagan heritage. Mythology isn’t something frozen in the past. It lives, breathes, and still speaks to us today if we take the time to listen.
The song Whispers of Blodeuwedd grew from that same inspiration. Blodeuwedd — the flower-born goddess of Welsh myth — has long been one of the most evocative figures within Celtic legend. Created from blossoms, transformed by betrayal, and ultimately reclaimed by nature itself, her story carries both light and shadow, beauty and consequence.
When I set out to create this piece, I wanted to give voice to the quiet, liminal space she occupies — that blend of wildness, vulnerability, and quiet strength that makes her feel so timeless. The result is a song that sits gently within the wider Goddesses of the Isles project, weaving music, myth, and meditation together.
✨ About Goddesses of the Isles
The Goddesses of the Isles collection is my personal way of honouring the many goddess figures that inhabit the myths and landscapes of Britain and Ireland. Some are well-known — like Brigid, Rhiannon, or Ceridwen — while others are more obscure, emerging from fragments of ancient stories, placenames, and half-remembered traditions.
From this work have come two linked creations:
🃏 The Goddesses of the Isles Oracle Deck
A 36-card oracle deck featuring hand-illustrated representations of these deities, designed to offer gentle guidance and inspiration. Each card blends art, symbolism, and research, allowing you to explore your own connections with these goddesses. This is my personal oracle that began life as a series of “post-it” notes and evolved over many years of fine-tuning.
It’s currently available as print-your-own version with a detailed illustrated guide. Pre-printed decks should be available soon.

🌸 Why Blodeuwedd?
Blodeuwedd’s story always feels particularly resonant for modern times: shaped by others’ intentions, yet ultimately breaking free to follow her own path — transformed, but not defeated.
In many ways, this song marks the beginning of a new creative thread — one that may see more of the goddesses brought to life through music and video. It’s a small offering to the spirit of the isles that continue to inspire me daily.
Whilst the matron goddess of this collection is Elen of the Ways (the song A Prayer to Elen will be coming along shortly), Blodeuwedd just felt like an ideal place to start the musical side of the journey.
